Success Metrics
There are two formatting options available. The traditional desired outcome statement is a structure used in the Outcome-Driven Innovation methodology. Since many stakeholders - especially when involved with marketing or UX teams - push back on the awkward nature of desired outcomes statements since people don’t talk like that, the alternative is a natural language structure that gets to the heart of the outcome and tries to avoid tasks and activities where feasible.
This catalog contains 20 potential metrics using each formatting option. You will likely need to reduce this set for a survey. The number of statements that have been generated is arbitrary and can be expanded to accommodate your needs.
Desired Outcome Statements (ODI)
- Minimize the time it takes to apply the cleaning solution, e.g., spraying, pouring, etc.
- Minimize the time it takes to scrub or agitate the product, e.g., using a brush, sponge, etc.
- Minimize the time it takes to rinse the product, e.g., using water, wiping with a damp cloth, etc.
- Minimize the time it takes to remove stains, e.g., blotting, scrubbing, etc.
- Minimize the time it takes to dry the product, e.g., air drying, using a towel, etc.
- Minimize the time it takes to ensure all cleaning solution is removed, e.g., thorough rinsing, wiping, etc.
- Minimize the time it takes to clean hard-to-reach areas, e.g., corners, crevices, etc.
- Minimize the time it takes to clean delicate areas, e.g., embroidery, lace, etc.
- Minimize the time it takes to clean large surface areas, e.g., tabletops, floors, etc.
- Minimize the time it takes to clean small items, e.g., jewelry, buttons, etc.
- Minimize the time it takes to ensure the product is free of odors, e.g., using deodorizing sprays, airing out, etc.
- Minimize the time it takes to ensure the product is free of residue, e.g., wiping down, rinsing, etc.
- Minimize the time it takes to clean without causing damage, e.g., avoiding harsh scrubbing, using gentle cleaners, etc.
- Minimize the time it takes to clean multiple items, e.g., batching similar items, using efficient methods, etc.
- Minimize the time it takes to clean using minimal water, e.g., using damp cloths, water-efficient methods, etc.
- Minimize the time it takes to clean using minimal cleaning agents, e.g., using concentrated solutions, eco-friendly products, etc.
- Minimize the time it takes to clean using minimal effort, e.g., using automated tools, ergonomic tools, etc.
- Minimize the time it takes to clean using minimal time, e.g., quick-drying solutions, fast-acting cleaners, etc.
- Minimize the time it takes to ensure the product is sanitized, e.g., using disinfectants, steam cleaning, etc.
- Minimize the likelihood of re-soiling the product during cleaning, e.g., using clean tools, working in a clean environment, etc.
